"Closed Circuit", Installation, 2023
In this installation, over 10000 censored words leaked from Chinese social media platforms are continuously printed on a loop of receipt paper. These words are deemed "sensitive" by the Chinese government, triggering the censorship mechanism which causes posts being deleted or unable to publish.
As the words print, they overlap and become progressively harder to read, symbolizing the suppression of freedom of expression and the diminishing availability of uncensored information. Eventually, all the texts accumulate into a black loop of paper.
